What book is considered the “Math Bible”?
I’m looking for a book (or books of the same series) that is considered the math bible. Something similar to the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics but on math instead of physics and chemistry. If possible, l would like a book that contains information of all MAJOR math branches (algebra, geometry ect.). If not one book is available, then multiple books of the same series is preferred.
I do remember that there was a series of twelve or so books, each book was on a specific math branch. The volumes covered all the based and the most commonly used advanced levels of that math branch. Does anyone know what it’s called?
I quote from the link below, which has lots of other possibilities:
Ito, Kiyosi (Ed.). Encyclopedic Dictionary of Mathematics, 2nd ed., 4 vols. Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 1987. Excellent but very technical work intended for professional mathematicians. It is very comprehensive, but information is grouped by topic and so can be spread out in numerous places and difficult to find. There are few figures or recent references. The price is reasonable for the 4-volume set, but it is too technical for college students and physical scientists. It is not intended for general audiences. Unfortunately, many of the references are Japanese works. $75.
