How much do you think getting a small tattoo would effect your job?
I love music, so I really want to get like a small tattoo on my shoulder . Since tattoos are so popular among my generation now, do you really think it would effect getting a job? Just asking for opinions here, I haven’t even decided anything permanent. I probably won’t get one but just in case. Please no rude comments.
It all depends on what type of work you want to pursue. Where I work, I am allowed tatts & piercings( within reason) and what I mean by “within reason” is say, no multiple facial piercings and perhaps vulgar tattoos. I have 3 tattoos that all are in good taste, but you can only see my ankle tattoo. I also have my tongue pierced, and a lip ring which are acceptable And no, I do not work at Hot Topic or the like. I happen to work for our local school district, Now, where my husband works ( a security job) he can not have any visible tattoos or piercings period, or it is grounds for termination, But I don’t see how a tattoo on your shoulder should be a cause for concern. I think more people have tattoos today in the work place, than one might think. Still, you will come across those who still believe that tattoos and such are of “low class” ,
I say, go for it, if it’s something you really want.. Just wear something to cover it up at the interview and if you get the job, play it by ear… You never know…You might just find fellow inked employees
